CARLOS RIVAS

Bio

Carlos Rivas is a Peruvian-born dancer, choreographer, and music publicist based in Montreal, specializing in Latin and World Music. From a young age, he has led projects integrating Latin-American popular music and dance with global artforms, from a fresh, elegant, and contemporary vision.

Dancing for more than 15 years now, he has produced choreographic video productions and activations in Canada and Latin America, alongside other dancers and musicians. Beyond learning from one-of-a-kind artist mentors in South America and Spain, Carlos graduated Valedictorian from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Arts in 2022.

Bringing a background in Latin dance, Ballroom dances, Tap dance, Flamenco, and Peruvian coastal dances, he is currently dedicated to teaching, choreographing, and promoting Latin music concerts and artists in Canada. Able to communicate fluently in English, Spanish, and French, his dance projects and lessons have touched people of various origins who had never experienced Latin dance that closely.

Some of his recent career highlights include performing at Amanda Martinez’s full-house album launch concert at Toronto’s Koerner Hall for the 2024 Toronto Jazz Festival, and utilizing dance to promote shows such as Gilberto Santa Rosa’s, Ricky Martin’s, and El Gran Combo’s concerts in Montreal.
